Choosing a VAT refund

From 1st January 2019, with the entry into force of the Digital Visa (DIVA) for sales to visitors, if a customer wishes to obtain a VAT refund, they must notify this wish within 24 hours by sending an email to taxfree@wivai.com including the following details:

  • Passport No.
  • Name and surname(s)
  • Date of Birth
  • Country of residence
  • Email address
  • Contact mobile phone No.
  • Date of departure from country
  • IBAN bank account number

*Only applicable to residents with primary residence outside of the European Union, for purchases over 90.15 euros. Dependent upon you taking the purchased goods with you to your primary residence within a period of 3 months from the purchase date.
Wivai will then email you the Electronic Refund Document (ERD) to be shown at customs. The sender of the email will be sendfile@sendfile.grupocaixabank.com.

Refund of the charge

  • When leaving the EU, customers must present the goods/articles and their purchase receipts and the Electronic Refund Document (ERD) at the customs office of exit (Spanish office or of another member state)
  • When the Spanish Tax Agency confirms the ERD to PromoCaixa, customers will be refunded the VAT by bank transfer.
